I've seen them win in Boston and Toronto, and to this day I've enjoyed the Philly wins more. I hope you gave them the gears!

LOL; no, I value my life! I just sat there with a smug smile on my face most of the time! ;-)

In all seriousness, though, these were two non-playoff teams going up against each other, so it's kind of hard to get TOO excited about the win. The Flyers were a complete no-show, I thought, except for about a three to four minute stretch early in the third period when they got their first goal. I don't know if that was a function of the Habs "playing their game". Seeing the team in person (I was off to the side, lower level, at the end of the ice where the Canadiens shot twice), I was impressed by the defensemen, and how quickly they moved the puck out of their own end. The guy next to me was a diehard Flyers fan, and unlike many Flyers fans in the area, he actually WATCHED the game and understood it, and we often remarked to each other how Philadelphia could not get any type of sustained forechecking game going because the Habs d-men got the puck up ice so quickly. In particular, I was impressed by Matheson, who I thought had a fantastic game, and Barron. As well, kudos to David Savard. We fans gave him a lot of crap last season because he seemed to be on the ice for so many goals against (I think that I even referred to him as "Karl Alzner 2.0"), but that was unfair. When playing the role he should be playing--a second pair or (better yet) third pair defenseman, he is very effective.

I've now seen Montreal "in person" twice this season--the other time was a little over a month ago, on Long Islander against the Islanders--and all in all, the Habs have looked like there is a future ahead of them. It won't be for a few years, but the "D Corps" will drive the team and there is some talent there. And, we haven't even talked about Mailloux or Hutson, who will join the team in the next few years, presumably, or Guhle, who will hopefully be back before the season is out.
